A night filled with stars and strategy

Contacted by his shore crew this morning, Giancarlo PEDOTE discussed the complex weather forecast for the start to this week. “I’m spending my time comparing grib files in a bid to try and find the best route into the Southern Ocean. We have very little breeze at the moment, so I’m trying to stay very focused on the deck of the boat trimming the sails”.
However, the skipper of the boat Prysmian Group is taking care to abide by the adage: “He who takes it slow and steady goes a long way.” “I’ve been making the most of the mild conditions to give the boat a thorough check. The structure is sound after 15 days of racing and there’s no damage to lament, which is encouraging for taking on the Indian Ocean.” This is reassuring news for all the team and those people who are following the Italian sailor. Beyond the race, the skipper of the boat Prysmian Group is continuing to discover messages of encouragement from his nearest and dearest. “Last night I took the time to look at the stars. One of my friends told me to make the most of being out on the ocean to observe them. I’m lucky to be in an area of the earth with no light source”. A rare yet very important moment of relaxation on these boats in the Vendée Globe.
